Read This: Straight White Classics
We all know those dreaded "classics" in the literary canon (i.e. the boring books you had to read in English class and have to pretend to like if you're an English major).
Not surprisingly, the "classics" we celebrate (and force uninterested teenagers to read) are predominantly penned by very straight, very white, very dead men.
Modern Library and Penguin Classics want to change that and plan to launch publication of a new series of forgotten books written by people of color and women.
