Questionable Wisdom: Origin Story
Updated: Apr 23, 2019
In college, my roommates and I thought we were equal parts hilarious and profound.
[We were also sleep-deprived and/or drunk, but that's not the point.]
We created the Quote Wall — a twine clothesline with little scraps of paper containing quotes we'd either overheard or said ourselves. It became famous among our friends and grew from one clothesline to five. In our circle, there was nothing quite as validating as making it on the Quote Wall.
Okay, so we were weird.
(Still are. Long live.)
I still believe that non-famous people — people like my wonderful roommates and random dudes in grocery stores — deserve to be quoted. You don't have to be famous to have something to say.
So that's what this is all about: celebrating the voices and wisdom of people who probably don't know what they're talking about.
"But does anyone really know what they're talking about?"
See? I made up a quote right there. This is off to an excellent start.
