Questionable Wisdom: Backup Plans
One time I sat next to a life coach on an airplane. I love talking to strangers on airplanes, but a lot of times they don't like talking to me and even pretend to sleep to avoid interacting with me [yeah, I know]. One time a guy told me while we were getting off the plane, "Sorry I didn't talk to you. I just knew if I even said hi, you'd talk my ear off the whole flight."
Honestly I don't know how he got that idea.
Anyway, the life coach wanted to talk to me. I don't know her name, and I don't expect to ever see her again. But we talked most of the flight, and I guess she kind of gave me a free life coaching session.
Here's what she told me:
Don't have a backup plan. Having a backup plan means you don't believe in yourself.
I still haven't decided if this is inspiring or irresponsible.
